UNIQUE CARPETS: BUILDING ON 20 YEARS OF SUCCESS

RIVERSIDE, CA, September 16, 2005—As Wools of New Zealand Brand partner, Unique Carpets & Rugs, Ltd. turns 20, it celebrates its success and the recent addition of four seasoned sales professionals.

It all began on August 26, 1985 when Bill Graves, president of Unique Carpets & Rugs, Ltd, decided to separate from the pack and start something different—something “unique”.  The niche company he created focuses on fashion, quality and service and has earned a solid reputation in the high-end flooring market. Its product line is diverse, offering retailers, trade showrooms, and interior design firms an exotic mix of manufactured and imported products in wool, sisal and synthetic fibers. To help sell its growing line of products, Unique recently added four sales professionals to manage key markets.

Mark Kimsey Kimsey is a 25-year veteran in the flooring industry, previously working for Masland Carpets. He takes over sales responsibilities for southwest Texas and will concentrate his efforts in the Austin, San Antonio and Houston markets. His experience and expertise will enhance Unique’s efforts in those areas.
		John Mendez Mendez is a graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Interior Design. He has spent the past 12 years as a top-performing sales representative with Fabrica. His success in the high-end market will be a great asset to Unique as he takes over responsibilities for parts of Connecticut and New York.
Vince Watkins Watkins will manage sales in North and South Carolina as well as parts of Virginia. He comes to Unique after working in sales with Fabrica for 10 years and JP Stevens for 12. Always a top-ten performer, Watkins is sure to provide Unique with the expertise it needs to take advantage of this fast growing market.

Joe Zimmerman

Zimmerman is another veteran of Fabrica, with 10 years experience. He comes to Unique fully prepared to manage the company’s Northern Florida territory, an area of tremendous growth.

Effective September 1, all four sales professionals will report to Martin Lopez, vice president of marketing for Unique Carpets.  “It is an exciting time for Unique,” says Bill Graves. “We are attracting exceptional talent and growing in new areas. As we celebrate our 20^th anniversary, we continue to enhance our niche position and build on our success.”
